TTT: Best Books of 2016

With the year winding down to a whopping few days, I figure this list is pretty much set. I might finish and absolutely love The Bone Season at some point this week, in which case I might have to edit this. Or, you know, update it for when I do Jamie’s end-of-year book survey.

That all being said, it was HARD to pick a top ten best books. I actually read quite a bit this year, and while I’d encountered many more “meh” books than I have in previous years, I’ve also encountered a whole lot of books I really liked and absolutely loved, most of them from authors whose series of books keep getting better and better. So at the interest of keeping my list from being filled with Schwab and Marissa Meyer and Briggs, I’ve added only one of their books.

Monstress, Vol. 1 by Marjorie M. Liu and Sana Takeda (Review)

A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic #2) by V.E. Schwab (Review)

Saga, Vol. 5 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch (Review)

Fire Touched (Mercy Thompson, #9) by Patricia Briggs (Review)

Tensions between the fae and humans are coming to a head. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (Review)

Cress (The Lunar Chronicles, #3) by Marissa Meyer (Review)

Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and prevent her army from invading Earth.

Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl trapped on a satellite since childhood who’s only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s being forced to work for Queen Levana, and she’s just received orders to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

The Way of Kings (Stormlight Archive, #1) by Brandon Sanderson (Review)
