TTT: 2016 Early Releases

I’m not sure I should be doing one of these, considering I’m still catching up to all my other reading. Some of the books I went ahead and threw in are continuations of series that I haven’t read the previous books for (if that even makes any sense, lol). I’m looking at my Briggs-Sanderson choices, obviously…

But I can’t help it, honestly! It’s like going to a shop to peruse its wares and then finding something shiny in the corner that you absolutely MUST READ at some point in the future. No matter how far this future may be. That’s me and books, though.

Also, I may have been a little smitten by some of the covers and book jacket summaries.

Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases of Early 2016

A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab – Given. Loved A Darker Shade of Magic and read a teeny excerpt of its sequel. Just. Want.

Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs – Also a given. That gorgeous cover, though. Nevermind that I still have to read Night Broken and am dreading it (because one character), but give me an uninterrupted weekend and I’ll probably breeze through both books.

Calamity by Brandon Sanderson – Alright, so I haven’t read Firefight yet. Whatever. I fully intend to. And then I fully intend to be Brandon Sandersoned (yes, I’ve turned him into a verb). And then I fully intend to crave Calamity soon after.

Heartless by Marissa Meyer – The fact she’s doing a Wonderland retelling is just AMAZING. I cannot, cannot, CANNOT wait for this, and I am FULLY AWARE that this book really shouldn’t count on the “first half of the year release” list for 2016, but I couldn’t help it. This book has me excited like nobody’s bizness.

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard – Interesting premise, and the book sounds like it’ll be right up my alley.

The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine – I love this cover. Nevermind that the last time I picked up a book with the “Snow White-ish apple” cover, I hated it. Let’s hope this is not the case for The Shadow Queen.

The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead – So I haven’t read any Mead stories yet, and I know she’s got quite a number up her arsenal. I’m willing to take a plunge and read this before any of her other stuff, because it has shiny words like “Glittering” and “Court” and obviously stuff like that is bound to be magically awesome.

A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro – Because I’m having a Sherlock withdrawal and I kind of want to see how this book puts a twist in the Sherlock Holmes story.

Reign of Shadows by Sophie Jordan – Is it bad that I looked at the cover and said “I want that one!”? Yeah. I judged this book by its cover. Then I read the back and said, “Well, it sounds good, too!”

Sword and Verse by Kathy MacMillan – This. This sounds like a high fantasy with a kickass female character. And the author promises that there is no love triangle. And it’s a stand-alone. COME ON. This calls to me in volumes. I’m so there.

So this is my list. What’s on yours? 😀

    • I’ve been hearing much good things about Mead, though I was never sure which book/series I should try with her. Glittering Court would be as good as any to start, I suppose!
